Singapore-Finland War on Diabetes Seminar
SINGAPORE – FINLAND RESEARCH SEMINAR ON METABOLIC DISEASES – “HOW TO WIN THE WAR ON DIABETES?”
28 November 2018, Singapore
The seminar invites experts from Singapore and Finland representing academia, health care, industry and government to present and discuss latest research and solutions to advance prevention and treatment of diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases as well as related conditions. Presentations will be followed by an interactive roundtable to jointly envision “How to Win the War on Diabetes?” and how to proceed towards this goal by joining our complementary strengths in science, technology and real-life care solutions. Considering nationwide and internationally replicable solutions the topics include design of effective health policies and renewal of care systems based on scientific evidence, the use of novel technologies and solutions such as high-throughput omics, novel diagnostic and monitoring solutions, integration of personal health & wellness data and the use of AI as an enabling technology. Creating awareness and educating both citizen and health professionals in working together for making best use of the new solutions is discussed as an enabler of their successful adoption. The outcomes of the seminar include suggestions for concrete cooperation proposals to be developed further for joint research and for developing and deploying solutions in prevention and treatment in Singapore, in Finland and internationally.
