NUS-Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship and START Award 2017

Congratulations to Dr Peh Hong Yong on receiving the prestigious NUS-Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship (NUS-OPF), where he will begin his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He was also presented the “Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent Scheme” award by Singapore Minister of Education (Higher Education and Skills) Mr Ong Ye Kung. The NUS-OPF provides opportunity to selected outstanding individuals for international postdoctoral training at top universities. The NUS-OPF scheme is part of NUS’ continuing efforts to develop its best talents for a career in academia through exposure to international postdoctoral training.

Hong Yong is now appointed a Senior Tutor in the department of pharmacology, and concurrently a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He had recently completed his PhD under supervisor A/P Wai-Shiu Fred Wong. During his PhD candidature, Hong Yong was awarded the President Graduate Fellowship and NUS-Industry Relevant Program Scholarship, where he published 17 peer-reviewed articles and won numerous awards including the Pharmacia Medal and Prize in Pharmacology (1st place), Society for Redox Biology & Medicine Travel Award, HOPE Meeting with Nobel Laureates Travel Fellowship, Global Young Scientist Summit Travel Fellowship, Lee Foundation International Conference Travel Award and YLL-SoM AGSC Best Oral Presenter Award (1st place) twice in 2014 and 2016.
