Course Description:

The course extends over three terms of the second year and consists of lectures, practical classes and demonstrations. The aims are to provide the knowledge and to develop the attitudes required for the effective and safe use of drugs in clinical practice. The course covers the general principles of pharmacology and how they may be utilised in a rational approach to therapeutics, the important techniques of animal and human pharmacological investigation and the analysis of data from experimental results. The course also includes a systematic study of the pharmacological properties of drug in common clinical use. The overall emphasis is on the provision of a sound framework of scientific knowledge, which the student can use to make his clinical assessment of drugs and to keep abreast of new developments as they occur.

Course Description:

This course will focus on developing knowledge in both pathophysiology and pharmacology relevant for nursing practice. Students will gain an understanding of the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and management in cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding in the principles of drug action and the application of these principles to the different drugs discussed in disease management within this course.

Course Description:

This course will focus on developing knowledge in both pathophysiology and pharmacology relevant for nursing practice. Students will gain an understanding of the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and management in gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal systems and infectious diseases. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding in the principles of drug action and the application of these principles to the different drugs discussed in disease management within this course.
