Interactive Tools

Clickers/Keypads

The clicker or keypad system is one of the interactive tools supported by Education Technology. It allows you to set up MCQ formatted quizzes, polls or surveys for students to answer in real-time.

Advantages of Clickers/Keypads:
  • Encourage active student engagement, discussion and collaboration during lectures and tutorials.
  • Allow students to reflect and assimilate important points taught during class and at the same time, allow tutors to check students’ understanding and address areas of concern.
  • Enable “two-way” communication and encourage participation from everyone in a large group setting where communications can be hindered by the sheer number of students.
  • Break the monotony of long lectures by including an interactive element such as quiz or Q&A within the lecture.

How It Works:
Our keypads, receiver dongle and software are from Turning Technologies. You will need to download Turning Technologies’ Turning Point application from the CIT website, in order to set up the quizzes, polls and surveys.

The Turning Point application integrates questions and quizzes in PowerPoint slides and provides seamless data collection. Answers keyed into the keypads are transmitted via radio frequency to the receiver which is connected to the PC. The answers are transmitted and captured by Turning Technologies’ Turning Point application and response graphs can be created on the spot hence providing an immediate feedback to the tutors and students.
