Dr Owen Landeg is Associate Professor in Health System Sustainability at the Centre for Sustainable Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is an internationally recognised expert in health system sustainability, with over 15 years’ experience spanning research, policy, and implementation of sustainable healthcare, climate-resilient health systems, emergency preparedness, and public health.

Prior to joining the team, Dr Landeg was Head of Strategy at NHS England, responsible for several decarbonisation workstreams and climate resilience. There he led the creation of major capital programmes to support decarbonisation and the assessment of climate risk to the health sector. He was lead author of the WHO Regional Office for Europe Heat-health actions plan guidance (second edition) and contributing author of the fourth national UK Climate Change Risk Assessment.

Before NHS England, Dr Landeg was Scientific and Technical Lead at the Extreme Events and Health Protection Team at Public Health England where he led national emergency response to extreme weather events, including emergency planning, early warning systems, and surveillance. He is Honorary Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Honorary Member of the UK Faculty of Public Health.
