Dr Timothy Hart

Lecturer, NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine

Dr Hart began his career as a molecular virologist, studying Infectious Disease Control at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, followed by a PhD in arbovirology at the University of Glasgow.

After two post-doctoral positions in Singapore and Heidelberg, Germany, working on dengue control and pathogenesis, he moved to Singapore to study medicine at Duke-NUS medical school.

Doctor Hart worked in internal medicine and microbiology for many years before moving into family medicine. He currently works as a General Practitioner, as well as working in the Family Medicine departments of first LKC and subsequently NUS.

All medicine begins in the community, and the majority of family medicine occurs in general practice. As a researcher and general practitioner, Dr Hart is a strong advocate for a central role for general practice in research, surveillance and disease control.
