Ayelet Berman is an Associate Professor (Visiting) at the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and the Lead of the Law & Governance Program at the Asia Centre for Health Security. She also leads the Global Health Law & Governance Program at NUS’s Centre for International Law. Her work centers on the law and policy dimensions of global health, public health, health security, and biosecurity, with a mission to enhance legal frameworks and capacity both in Asia and internationally.
Her scholarship has appeared in leading peer reviewed journals such as the European Journal of International Law and the American Journal of International Law, and her books have been published with Oxford and Cambridge University Press. Her advisory expertise is valued by organizations such as the World Health Organization, the European Court of Human Rights and the OECD.
Recognized for her leadership, Ayelet has been invited or elected to serve in influential roles, including as a member of the Global Health Law Consortium, the editorial board of BMJ Public Health, and co-chair of the American Society of International Law’s Interest Group on International Organizations.
Before academia, she practiced international trade litigation (WTO) at Sidley LLC in Geneva and commercial/regulatory law at Herzog, Fox & Neeman in Tel Aviv.
Ayelet holds a Ph.D. and DEA in international law from the Graduate Institute, Geneva, and an LLB from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She also holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration (CiArb).
