Dr. Likui Wang is a research scientist dedicated to advancing global health security through interdisciplinary research at the interface of vaccinology, molecular diagnostics, and pandemic preparedness. His work is strategically focused on addressing the critical challenges posed by emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

His primary research areas include:

  • Clinical Development of Vaccines against Emerging Pathogens: Spearheading research in the clinical development of vaccines for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, with a particular emphasis on translating novel vaccine candidates from bench to bedside. This includes a strong focus on the design and execution of clinical trials to evaluate safety, immunogenicity, and efficacy.
  • Molecular Diagnostics for Pathogen Detection: Developing and refining advanced molecular diagnostic platforms for the rapid and accurate detection of emerging pathogenic microorganisms. His work in this area aims to enable early warning, real-time surveillance, and effective containment of disease outbreaks.
  • Global Vaccinology and Immunization Strategies: Investigating global vaccinology education, policy, and implementation frameworks to enhance vaccine confidence, coverage, and equitable access worldwide. His research informs the development of effective immunization strategies tailored for diverse populations and resource settings.
  • International Collaboration and Translational Research: Actively fostering international scientific partnerships and technology transfer to accelerate the translation of research discoveries into tangible public health tools, including diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines.
  • Pandemic Prevention and Health Systems Resilience: Dedicated to the study of pandemic prevention frameworks and health systems strengthening. His work focuses on developing robust response systems for pandemics, including early warning systems, scalable countermeasure manufacturing, and coordinated global response mechanisms.
  • Broad-Spectrum Vaccine R&D and Outbreak Response Systems: Concentrating on the rational design and development of broad-spectrum vaccines capable of providing cross-protection against divergent viral families. This is complemented by research into integrated outbreak response systems that enhance global resilience against major infectious disease pandemics, aiming to provide critical technological innovations and strategic guidance for global pandemic prevention efforts.

Through this integrated portfolio, Dr. Wang’s research provides key technological solutions and strategic insights to support the global community in predicting, preparing for, and mitigating the impact of future large-scale infectious disease emergencies.
