Kelley Lee, DPhil, FFPH, FCAHS, FRSC, is Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Global Health Governance in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University. She is also an Affiliated Professor in the School of Population and Public Health, University of British Columbia; and an Affiliate Investigator at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). She is a Fellow of the UK Faculty of Public Health, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and Royal Society of Canada.

Professor Lee’s research focuses on strengthening collective action to manage crossborder threats to population health.  Since 2020, she has led the Pandemics and Borders Project to understand measures to mitigate travel-related risks during public health emergencies. She is currently Scientific Co-Director of the Bridge Research Consortium, one of 19 projects funded by the Canadian government to strengthen the country’s biomanufacturing capacity for future pandemic readiness. The BRC focuses on supporting public trust and equitable access to new vaccines and immunotherapies. She has published 15 books, 250+ papers and 70+ book chapters including co-editing the Oxford Handbook of Global Health Politics (OUP, 2020). Her funding sources include the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, Health Canada, New Frontiers in Research Fund, Canadian Biomedical Research Fund, US National Institutes of Health, The Nuffield Trust, Rockefeller Foundation, The Wellcome Trust, UK Economic and Social Research Council, Cancer Research UK, European Research Council, UN Population Fund, World Health Organization and several national governments.

As a professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, she established pathfinding research and policy initiatives on the population health impacts of economic globalization, including co-founding the WHO Collaborating Centre on Global Change. She also contributed to several donor-led initiatives to strengthen global health institutions.  She led the Global Tobacco Control Research Programme to secure and analyse millions of internal documents of the tobacco industry. In recent years, Professor Lee co-chaired the Royal Society of Canada-Canadian Academy of Health Sciences Expert Panel on Canada’s Role in Global Health.  She was one of five authors commissioned by The Wellcome Trust to write regional papers on transforming the global health architecture.  She served as a Commissioner on the National University of Singapore-Lancet PRIME Commission launched in September 2026.
