Dr. Ai earned her B.S. in Clinical Medicine and her M.D. in Internal Medicine from Fudan University, Shanghai. As a physician and researcher, her primary research interests focus on the precision diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. She took the lead in establishing a national infectious disease genomics surveillance network covering over 100 sites and has carried out multiple multi-center trials to evaluate novel diagnostic methods and drugs, such as mNGS, ddPCR and CRISPR.

Dr. Ai is a highly accomplished investigator who has published over 70 SCI papers in prominent academic journals such as Cell Host & Microbe and Cell Research, and serves on the Youth Editorial Board for the internationally recognized China CDC Weekly. She is the Principal Investigator for several national research programs, most notably the prestigious Ministry of Education’s “Changjiang Scholar” Young Scholar Project. In recognition of her exceptional scientific impact, she is a recipient of the First and Second Prizes of the Shanghai Science and Technology Award.
