Dr Hamed Yahya Hussein
Senior Consultant, Dubai Health Authority
Dr. Hamed Yahya Hussein is an internationally recognized consultant in public health, epidemiology, and infectious disease control, with over two decades of leadership across health authorities, WHO emergency response missions, and academic institutions. He has played a key role in designing and implementing communicable disease containment strategies, leading outbreak response operations with the WHO’s Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN), and contributing to national and regional infectious disease policies.
As a Senior Consultant in Research & Data Analysis at Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Hussein has provided evidence-based input on pandemic preparedness, school-based disease surveillance, immunization policy, and emergency public health protocols. His 360+ publications include work on infectious disease epidemiology, vaccination strategy, outbreak management, and global health emergencies.
He has received numerous awards, including from WHO and Harvard University, for his contributions to anti-smoking research, childhood obesity control (as a co-factor in COVID-19 outcomes), and public health systems strengthening.
Dr. Hussein holds fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Faculty of Public Health (UK), and the American College of Epidemiology, among others. He has supervised PhD and MSc research focused on communicable disease prevention and serves as a mentor and educator in global public health.
His teaching experience includes leading workshops on epidemiology, infectious disease surveillance, and emergency health response, with a focus on the Eastern Mediterranean region. He is currently a Global Health Mentor with GHMe (Sweden) and has served as Director of School Health Services and Editor/Board Member for over 30 scientific journals in public health and epidemiology.
