Dr Chris Dickey

Clinical Associate Professor, NYU School of Global Public Health


Chris Dickey is a Clinical Associate Professor at NYU’s School of Global Public Health, where he has taught and mentors graduate and undergraduate students across the university since 2014. His signature course, developed alongside professionals from UNICEF and Anthrologica, has now taught more than 1,200 individuals that work in governments and UN agencies across more than 100 countries.

Dr. Dickey is an international development innovator and public health entrepreneur whose work develops sustainable public health models and forges bonds between the academic community and practitioners in the field. He addresses the myriad challenges facing public health, including health inequities, applied skills gaps among public health professionals, weak community health systems, and shrinking budgets through a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.

Dr. Dickey founded and mentors the NYU Applied Global Public Health Initiative, where graduate and undergraduate students collaborate with external and internal sponsors on global and domestic public health projects.

In 2009, he co-founded a company that provides clean water and primary care via telemedicine in villages in Northern India. Chris is a Board member for the Soho Think Tank/New Ohio Theater in NYC and also serves as Chair of the Program Committee on the Board of the Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), which has operations in Haiti, Kenya, South Sudan, Zambia, and Peru.

Chris has a DrPH from the Mailman School at Columbia University, an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MA from the School of Journalism at NYU.
