Professor Aymeric Lim is the Chief Executive Officer of the National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore’s 1,289-bed tertiary care hospital within the National University Health System (NUHS). NUH serves as the principal teaching hospital of the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the NUS Faculty of Dentistry.

Under his leadership, NUH drives a digital-first strategy, pioneering AI in patient care to deliver smarter, faster, and more personalised outcomes.

Professor Lim holds concurrent appointments as Senior Consultant at the Department of Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery, NUH, and Professor with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the National University of Singapore.

A practising surgeon with nearly 30 years of clinical experience, Professor Lim is internationally recognised for his work in hand and reconstructive microsurgery. His subspecialty areas include peripheral nerve surgery, brachial plexus, stroke and thoracic outlet syndrome. His research into the intra-muscular innervation of the muscles of the forearm has opened new approaches in the field of tendon and nerve transfers, with direct impact on restoring limb function for patients.

In 2019, Professor Lim received the Outstanding Clinician Award at Singapore’s National Medical Excellence Awards for his contributions to clinical innovation and patient safety in microsurgery and peripheral nerve surgery. For his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic as Group Chairman, Medical Board, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) (COVID-19) in 2022. In 2023, he received the NTUC May Day Awards Medal of Commendation for his contributions to staff welfare. His other national awards include the Long Service Medal (2022), the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (2018), and the Commendation Medal (Military) (2012) at the National Day Awards.

Professor Lim’s career spans leadership in healthcare, education, and military service. He served as Group Chairman, Medical Board of NUHS (2017–2020), leading the hospital group through the COVID-19 pandemic. He was also Group Chief Human Resource Officer of NUHS (2018–2019) and Chairman, Medical Board of NUH (2008–2016). He served as Vice-Dean in the Dean’s Office of the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2017. In 2012, he was appointed founding Dean of the Healthcare Leadership College (HLC) at MOH Holdings, a position he held till 2021. Professor Lim served as Commanding Officer of a Combat Support Hospital in the Singapore Armed Forces from 2009 to 2015.

Beyond his professional roles, Professor Lim has led medical missions to Taiwan, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Zambia, and post-tsunami Aceh in Indonesia.
