Remembering Sir David Nabarro (1949–2025)

Sir David Nabarro was a towering figure in global health, a leader whose work touched countless lives across continents. From his role as the UN Special Envoy on Ebola to his service as a senior advisor to the World Health Organization during the COVID-19 pandemic, he exemplified compassionate and principled leadership during some of the world’s most challenging moments.

At CIDER, we had the honour of engaging with Sir David through webinars, expert discussions, and most recently, through his insightful contribution to the leadership chapter of our textbook Infectious Disease Emergencies: Preparedness and Response. His passing is deeply felt by all of us who were fortunate to learn from him.
