CNA: Mpox ‘troublesome’ but manageable; at-risk healthcare workers to be offered vaccines: Ong Ye Kung
Singapore will offer vaccines to healthcare workers who are at greatest risk of encountering mpox. The vaccines — which are from the country’s existing stock for smallpox — will also be offered to close contacts of confirmed cases. However, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said there are no plans to elevate Singapore’s response further. That’s as its people can manage what he described as a “troublesome virus”, due to experiences gained from the COVID-19 pandemic. Nicolas Ng reports, while Professor Dale Fisher, who is director of the NUS Centre for Infectious Disease Emergency Response, shares more about Singapore’s public health emergency response plan.
