CIDER represented at the South-East Asia Regional Forum on Public Health Emergencies

Prof Dale Fisher, Centre Director of the Centre for Infectious Disease Emergency Response (CIDER), took part in the South-East Asia Regional Forum on Public Health Emergencies, held on 6 October 2025 at Monash University Malaysia. The event was co-organised with the AHF Global Public Health Institute.

His session, “The Regional Landscape: Current Initiatives, Lessons and Opportunities”, explored how ASEAN can strengthen pandemic preparedness. Prof Fisher highlighted the importance of mobilising regional assets and expanding the role of non-state actors, noting that resilience depends on collective action, innovative partnerships, and stronger systems to meet future health challenges.

The forum brought together leaders and partners from across ASEAN, the World Health Organization, Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia, and international organisations to reflect on lessons from COVID-19 and discuss strategies for health security in the region.
