Dr Amin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and a Consultant Neonatologist in National University Hospital. Dr Amin has Master in Health Profession Education (MHPE) from University of Illinois at Chicago, USA. His interests in medical education are in faculty development, assessment, and international medical education. He is the lead author of three books: Basics in Medical Education, Profiles of Asian Medical Schools: Part I Southeast Asia, and A Practical Guide on Student Assessment. He is one of the editors of Medical Education Online and Anatomical Science Educators. He has conducted faculty development programme in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Iran, Jordan, Japan, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, and Italy.

Tan Sri Dato' Dr Abu Bakar SULEIMAN

Tan Sri Dato' Dr Abu Bakar Suleiman, 66, was appointed President of the IMU on 1 March 2001 and Director of IMUE on 18 April 2005. He has had a distinguished career in the Malaysian Health Service rising to the level of Director General of the Ministry of Health. He received his MBBS degree from Monash University, Australia in 1968 and joined government service as a Medical Officer in 1969. He became Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1974 and completed postgraduated training in Nephrology in Melbourne and in Washington D.C. He became Consultant Nephrologist and Head of the Department of Nephrology, Hospital Kuala Lumpur in 1976. He became Director General of Health in 1991 and retired from government service in 2001. He has been President of The International Medical University, Malaysia since 2001.

Yiong Huak received his PhD in Mathematics from University of Newcastle, Australia and is currently the head of the Biostatistics Unit in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is actively involved in conducting research and statistical courses to help researchers in their aims of publication and to enhance their understanding of reading published articles. He serves as the Biostatistical - Consultant for the Health Service Research Unit (Ministry of Health), the National Healthcare Group Polyclincs, the Institute of Mental Health and the various Medical Institutes & hospitals in Singapore. He is also the Associate editor for the Singapore Medical Journal.

Erle Chuen-Hian LIM

Erle Chuen-Hian Lim, MBBS, M Med (Int Med), FRCP (Glasgow) is Associate Professor, National University of Singapore and Senior Consultant Neurologist, National University Hospital. He completed his training in Neurology in 2000, and pursued a Movement Disorders fellowhip with Prof C Warren Olanow and Mitchell F Brin at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY. He returned to Singapore in 2001, when he joined Alexandra Hospital as head of the fledgling Neurology service. He also served as Visiting Consultant Neurologist at three of the major hospitals in Singapore (Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital and the National Neuroscience Institute) before joining the National University of Singapore (NUS) as Assistant Professor in 2003. Dr Lim practices General Neurology with an interest in Movement Disorders. His interests include Parkinson’s disease and atypical parkinsonism, dystonia, Botulinum toxin (common and novel applications), and rating scales for movement disorders. His interests in general neurology include headaches and seizures. Dr Lim served as Director, Undergraduate Medical Education for the Medicine track of the NUS from 2005-6, was the Assistant Dean (Clinical, Student Affairs and Admissions). His interests in Medical Education include the use of multimedia and information technology in pedagogy, as well as bedside clinical teaching, professionalism and medical communication. Dr Lim is the author of more than 100 articles in international peer reviewed medical journals. He sits on the editorial board of the Annals, Academy of Medicine, Singapore, as well as the Journal of Clinical Medicine Research. He sits on various national education committees, is a member of the Teaching Academy of the NUS, as well as regional and international movement disorders committees. He has been invited to give talks and demonstrate Botulinum toxin injection techniques using electrical motor point stimulation and passive electromyographic guidance techniques regionally and internationally. In 2005/6, Assoc Prof Lim won the faculty teaching excellence award, as well as the university teaching excellence award. In 2008, he won the university’s Outstanding Educator Award.

Dr. Indika Karunathilake is the Director of Medical Education Development And Research Centre (MEDARC), Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is also a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at the University of Colombo. Dr. Karunathilake received his training in Medical Education at the Centre for Medical Education, University of Dundee, Scotland, where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma and subsequently a Masters Degree in Medical Education. Dr. Karunathilake has conducted extensive research and authored many publications in medical education. His research interests include assessment, e-learning and curriculum development. He has been a resource person in Medical Education for many national, regional and international forums. In addition to his responsibilities in Medical Education, Dr. Indika Karunathilake serves as the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA), the apex body of medical professionals in Sri Lanka.

Dr Brammer is currently an Assistant Professor in the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore. She currently coordinates the B Sc(Nursing) program at NUS, the first nursing degree program for Singapore and as Clinical Coordinator, was responsible for establishing the clinical practicum program for students Dr Brammer has extensive experience as a registered nurse and educator in hospitals and universities in Australia. She is passionate about improving the quality of the learning experience and clinical education for students, with a Master of Clinical Education from UNSW and maintaining the focus for doctoral studies and ongoing research. Dr Brammer contributes to the professional development of registered nurses and other health professionals in Singapore, Philippines and Australia for their role with students through the presentation of workshops on facilitating learning in the clinical setting.

John J. NORCINI, Ph.D.

Dr John Norcini obtained his B.A. in Psychology from LaSalle University and Ph.D. in Child Development from Bryn Mawr College. He is American Board certified in Internal Medicine (1977-2002). Dr Norcini held numerous key positions, including Director of Psychometrics (1985-1988), Executive Vice President for Evaluation and Research (1988-1997) and Executive Vice President of the Institute for Clinical Evaluation (1997-2002). He is currently the President and CEO, Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research, positions which he has held since 2002. He is the Deputy Editor of Medical Education and serves on several Editorial Boards, among them are Evaluation and the Health Professions, Teaching and Learning in Medicine, Advances in Health Sciences Education, Applied Measurement in Education, Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions, and Simulation in Healthcare.

Since becoming FAIMER's first President and CEO, Dr. Norcini has been instrumental in identifying the Foundation's areas of thematic focus and he played a key role in the adoption of a strategic plan and selection of regional emphases. He has also reorganized FAIMER and made a number of key staff appointments to ensure academic and educational support as its activities continue to develop. The Foundation’s mission is to improve international medical education. FAIMER has three areas of focus: 1) data resources including a directory of recognized medical schools around the world, 2) research on international medical education and physician migration, and 3) fellowship programs in medical education and leadership, designed for faculty from medical schools in developing countries. Dr. Norcini's principal academic interest is in the area of the assessment of physician performance. In addition to his operational knowledge of testing in the context of specialty certification and recertification, he has published extensively and lectured and taught in more than twenty countries. Topics of publication include written examinations, computer-based testing, work-based assessment, simulation, maintenance of competence, equating, standard-setting, and professionalism. In addition to assessment, Dr. Norcini has also done work on physician migration and the impact of international medical graduates (IMGs) on the US healthcare system. Topics include the predictors of the performance of IMGs on certifying examination, the curriculum of schools producing the most US citizen IMGs, and certification among graduates of the Caribbean medical schools.

Chung-Sheng LAI

Professor Chung-Sheng Lai graduated from Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) in 1977. Based on life-long learning, he got EMBA degree in 2000 at National Sun Yat-Sen University and Adult Education PhD. Degree in 2005 at National Kaohsiung Normal University. Now he is the Dean of College of Medicine at KMU, the president of Taiwan Society of Plastic Surgery, and the Chief of Department of Plastic Surgery at KMU Hospital. He is quite active not only in clinical research but also the medical education reform in Taiwan, and so far publishes 204 papers (SCI: 73; SCIE: 14; TSSCI: 1; others: 116).

Professor Gwee was recently appointed as a Fellow of the NUS Teaching Academy. He is also a Member of the University Committee on Educational Policy. Professor Gwee has also served as: Chairman of the Nursing Curriculum Committee, Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore; Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (1980-1992), Head of the Department of Pharmacology (1987–1997) and Chairman, PBL Committee (2000–2006) in the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Professor Gwee is a pioneer in the field of medical education in Singapore. He was recently awarded the prestigious MILES Award in the 3rd Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference 2006 in recognition of his many contributions to Mentoring, Innovation and Leadership in Educational Scholarship. Professor Gwee also sits on numerous local, regional and international committees, Advisory / Editorial Boards. He was recently appointed as a Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Medical Education. Professor Gwee has been invited to speak at several educational conferences in the Asia-Pacific region and at several gold standard meetings in medical education around the world. Professor Gwee recently served as Guest-Editor for The Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences,and published a review article entitled "Problem–Based Learning (PBL): A Strategic Learning System Design for the Education of Healthcare Professionals In the 21st Century" in a special issue of the KJMS, vol 25 (no. 5) 231-239, 2009. More recently Professor Gwee was invited to write the AMEE Guide on "Assessment in Basic Sciences", and also to write a review article for the J Int Assoc of Med Sc Educators (J IAMSE) on the "Role of Basic Medical Sciences in 21st Century Medical Education: An Asian Perspective." Co-authors for the two manuscripts are Dujeepa Samarasekera and Tan Chay Hoon.

Associate Professor Shirley Ooi, (MBBS(S'pore), FRCSEd(A&E), FAMS(Emerg Med)) is a Senior Consultant and Associate Professor at the Emergency Medicine Department, (EMD) National University Health System (NUHS) and former Chief of the EMD NUHS. She is the Designated Institutional Official of the NUHS Residency. She chairs the NUHS Evidence-based Medicine subcommittee and the Emergency Medicine Specialist Training Committee. She is a member of the Joint Committee for Specialist Training and the Specialist Accreditation Board in Singapore. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Emergency Medicine, University Kebangsaan Malaysia. A/P Ooi's passion is in teaching and mentoring. She has written 2 books entitled "Guide to the Essentials in Emergency Medicine" and “Medicolegal Issues in Emergency Medicine and Family Practice: Case Scenarios.

She is on the editorial board of Medical Progress and International Journal of Mental Health and an invited manuscript reviewer for various International Neuroscience and Psychiatric Journals. Dr Tan has been active in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and has received the University Annual Teaching Excellence Awards in 2004/2005 and 2001/2002.

Steven L. Kanter, MD, serves as Vice Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM). Dr. Kanter draws from a diverse background of experience that includes clinical medicine, medical informatics, medical education, scholarly publishing, and medical school administration. He has been a driving force in curricular renewal at UPSOM, has played a key role in reformulating guidelines for promotion of faculty, and has established a system of "promotion pathways" at UPSOM which provides an explicit framework for career development. Dr. Kanter also serves as Editor-in-Chief of Academic Medicine, the peer-reviewed journal of the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Janil Puthucheary is a Consultant Paediatric Intensivist at KK Children's Hospital as well as the Medical Director for Faculty Development at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Singapore. In his clinical role he has been heavily involved in the development of education based on Simulation technology. At the Duke-NUS GMS his interests are the refinement and execution of the Team Based Learning methodology. In this he has been involved in the development of many many Readiness Assessment Tests and Application Exercises. He has spent many hours facilitating teams actively engaged in the enjoyable learning experience of TBL.

Charles M. WIENER

Charles Wiener is a pulmonologist who joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1991 and is now a key educator and leader at the School of Medicine. Since 2000, he has been vice chairman of education for the Department of Medicine. He led the committee of faculty who, over five years, created the "Genes to Society" curriculum and he now directs the "Genes to Society" course, the largest in the school’s four-year program. At the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Wiener directs the Osler Medical House Staff Training Program, a three-year residency that focuses on both comprehensive training in academic general medicine and subspecialty training. He also remains active as a clinician, serving as attending physician in the hospital's intensive care and pulmonary units and in an outpatient clinic for ALS patients. His research interests have focused on vasomotor control of pulmonary circulation, HIF–1 in the lung and respiratory management of patients with neuromuscular diseases. Wiener, who joined the faculty as an assistant professor of medicine and physiology, pulmonary and critical care medicine, has been honored as a teacher and a mentor with awards including the Professor's Teaching Award and the George Stuart Award for Clinical Teaching. He has co–authored numerous books, including Cardiovascular System at a Glance (most recent edition, 2004) and Respiratory System at a Glance (most recent edition, 2006), both which have been translated into multiple languages. He is an associate editor of the American Journal of Medicine and the Journal of American Medicine and is a section editor of JAMA Grand Rounds. Most recently he was the author of the last two editions of Harrison’s Principles of Medicine Self-Assessment and Board Review (2005, 2008). He also has served for the last 5 years as a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners Step 1 interdisciplinary review committee. Wiener earned a bachelor's degree in management science from Duke University in 1978 and a medical degree from the University of Miami in 1982. After completing a medical residency at the University of Washington, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Royal Post–Graduate Medical School at Hammersmith Hospital and at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Parmelee is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and serves as consultant and trainer for Team-Based Learning throughout the US and abroad. He has co-edited two textbooks and several papers on the strategy. He is a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine in New York, served his residencies at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and although trained as a child & adolescent psychiatrist, he currently devotes his energies to enhancing medical education.

Sandy COOK

In June 2006, Dr. Cook joined the Duke - NUS Graduate Medical School in Singapore, as the Associate Dean for Curriculum Development and head of the Medical Education, Research, and Evaluation Department. She received her PhD from Cornell University in Adult and Continuing Education. Her Master's is in Research Methodology and her Bachelor's in Experimental Psychology, both from Ohio State University. Her previous position was the Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs, Senior Research Professional at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine from 2001–2006. Dr. Cook went to Chicago in 1985 to work as an education specialist for the Diabetes Research and Training Center (DRTC), a major NIH grant that was awarded to the University of Chicago in 1976 and continues to be funded. One of the major focuses on that grant has been the translation of diabetes research to the community, patients, and physicians. She continued on that grant and other diabetes related grants until 2003, when she needed to focus more of her time with University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medical and working with faculty to develop scholarly medical education research projects. Dr. Cook's overall research focused on developing and evaluating educational programs throughout the Division of Biological Sciences; health outcomes research in the area of diabetes, sleep medicine disorders, asthma, and geriatrics; and faculty development efforts in the area of the Scholarship of Education. Her work in the area of simulation and clinical assessment grew with the development of Clinical Performance Center at the University of Chicago for use in teaching and assessing the clinical skills of our medical students. This research effort has resulted in over 35 journal publications, 20 published abstracts, and one book chapter. She has been a member of the Society of Directors in Research in Medical Education since 2002 and served on the Board of Directors for 5 years until she moved to Singapore. She spent 8 years on the board of the Chicago Asthma Consortium, and served as President from 2003–2006. She also was the chair of the Curriculum and Evaluation committee of the 13–Schools Consortium from 2001–2006.

Robert K KAMEI

Robert K Kamei, MD is the Vice Dean of Education at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore. Born in Los Angeles, California, he has an undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He subsequently pursued internship and residency training in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After several years in primary care pediatric practice, he returned to the University of California, San Francisco where he served on the faculty. He was named as director of pediatric residency training in 1990 and continued in this position until accepting the position at the Duke–NUS in 2006. While director of residency training, the UCSF program grew from 45 to 89 residents and expanded from 2 to 5 major clinical teaching sites. Under his leadership, the program developed into a highly innovative educational training program, with several publications describing many of these creative efforts. He served with Dr. Abraham Rudolph as co–editor of the "Fundamentals of Pediatrics" for the 3 editions of this textbook. This textbook has become one of the most popular references on pediatrics for medical students and residents that is sold in the world today; and has been translated in several different languages. In 2000, he was the recipient of a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award to provide faculty development for academicians teaching medicine in Indonesia. During his sabbatical year, he traveled extensively throughout Indonesia and Southeast Asia to lecture and lead discussions on contemporary medical education teaching and evaluation techniques. Dr Kamei has held many different leadership positions in the Association of Pediatric Program Directors, the American Board of Pediatrics, and holds membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical society. His interests include travel, cooking and eating, studying eastern religious thought, golf and keeping fit.

Sally Wai-chi CHAN

For the last 25 years, Sally has been devoted to nursing education. Prior to her present appointment to NUS since January 2010, Sally has worked in Hong Kong. Apart from being an experienced nursing educator, faculty administrator, and researcher, Sally has been committed to community services while she was in Hong Kong. These services included contributing to development of mental health and nursing education policy, participating in regulation of nursing and social work professionals, and active involvement in many health related professional bodies. Her research focuses on mental health and psychosocial care, and evaluating innovative teaching and learning strategies. She has authored over 150 academic and professional papers. She has been awarded the 'Teacher of the Year' in 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, and the 'Master Teacher' in 2007 by the Faculty of Medicine, the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Khalid A. Bin ABDULRAHMAN

Prof. Khalid Bin Abdulrahman is a Professor of Family Medicine and Medical Education. He is the founding Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Imam University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is at present the Chairman of the Saudi Deans National Committee and Vice-President of the Saudi Society for Medical Education (SSME). In 2006 he was the leader of the national strategic planning project for health professions education in Saudi Arabia. His areas of interests include Planning and Development of Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education Programs, Strategic Planning & Leadership Development and Management of Chronic Illness in family practice setting. Prof Khalid has published more than 70 papers in family medicine and medical education, both in local and international journals. He presented more than 300 presentations in local and international meetings. Prof. Bin Abdulrahman is a member of different prestigious medical education organizations and a recipient of numerous prestigious awards including the Great Mind of the 21st Century Award from the American Biographical Institute.

He completed his residency and chief residency at Yale–New Haven Hospital, and was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at Yale University.

Dr. Kim is assistant resesarch professor in the Office of Medical Education at Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Seoul, Korea since 2007. For over years, Dr. Kim has experience in the practice and research in the design of engaging learning environments, espeically by integrating technology in teaching and learning such as in e-learning and blended learning. Her current research areas are in effective teaching and learning methods in medical education, including e–learning and problem–based learning. She is assistant director for the Korean Consortium for e–Learning in Medical Education and is a member of the steering commitee for the PBL research group under the Korea Society of Medical Education.

He has a special interest in Problem Based Learning and Medical Humanities and is currently the Coordinator of a Task Force to implement the teaching and learning of medical humanities in the core undergraduate medical curriculum. He is the co–editor of a monograph "Everything you want to know about PBL and not afraid to ask", and has conducted many PBL training workshops in mainland China and Taiwan. For his role as an excellent teacher, a scholar and a leader in medical education, he received an Outstanding Teaching Award of the University of Hong Kong in 2008.

He has actively participated in developing and managing several medical education projects covering the eight medical schools in Vietnam. The experiences and lessons learned from those medical education projects were shared in several international medical education journals.

Dr. Junji Otaki is a professor and the chief of the Department of Medical Education and the Department of General Medicine and Primary Care, Tokyo Medical University. He graduated from Tsukuba University School of Medicine in 1983, completed his residency training at Kawasaki Medical University Hospital (1983–1988), and studied in the field of medical education as a visiting research fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston, USA) Department of Medicine Division of General Medicine and Primary Care (1996–1997). He holds a doctoral degree (Doctor of Medical Science) from Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine (1998). He is a Fellow of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine (1989–present) and an executive board member of the Japan Society for Medical Education (2003–present). He was an associate professor at the International Research Center for Medical Education, the University of Tokyo (2002–2005). At Tokyo Medical University, he is teaching residents, medical students and graduate students. His research interests include teaching and learning basic clinical competence, fostering of competent primary care physician, and international cooperation in the field of medical education.

Dr. Hiroshi Nishigori is an Assistant Professor at the International Research Center for Medical Education, the University of Tokyo. He graduated from the Nagoya University School of Medicine in 1998. He completed his residency training at Maizuru Municipal Hospital in Kyoto (1998–2001) and became a Fellow of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine (2004). He received his training in Medical Education at the Centre for Medical Education, University of Dundee and obtained a Masters Degree in Medical Education (2008). He also holds a PhD degree (general medicine) from the Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine (2008). He is now a tutor for medical students, a clinician educator for residents and medical education researcher at the present institution. Professor Alastair V Campbell is the Chen Su Lan Centennial Professor of Medical Ethics and the Director, of the Centre for Biomedical Ethics in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore. Previously he was Professor of Biomedical Ethics, University of Otago and then Professor of Ethics in Medicine, University of Bristol. He is a former President of the International Association of Bioethics. His recent books include Health as Liberation (1996), Medical Ethics (with D.G. Jones and G. Gillet, 3rd Edition 2005) and The Body in Bioethics (2009). He was formerly chair of the Ethics and Governance Council of UK Biobank and Vice–Chair of the UK Retained Organs Commission. Professor Campbell is currently a member of the Bioethics Advisory Committee to the Singapore Government and of the National Medical Ethics Committee of the Ministry of Health. He is also a Board Member of the Health Sciences Authority of Singapore and of the National Medical Research Council.

He has been involved with US national leadership in undergraduate medical education, including serving as President of the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM)—the national organization representing those who teach internal medicine to medical students, and as a member of Group on Educational Affairs of the Association of American Medical Colleges, and Chairs the nominating committee for the annual Research in Medical Education conference. His interests include improving the descriptive evaluation of trainee performance, professionalism, and clerkship director professional development.

Zahurin Mohamed obtained a BSc in Pharmacology, then a PhD at the University of Dundee (Scotland). She joined the University of Malaya as an academic staff, and was appointed Professor of Pharmacology in 2000. She was the Head of Department of Pharmacology at the University of Malaya from 1994 till 2007 and is presently back as the Head from Nov 2009. Zahurin has published in the areas of genetic polymorphism, bioequivalence studies and pharmacogenomics. She currently heads the Bioequivalence Study Unit and also the Pharmacogenomics Laboratory. She has been a member of the National Committee for Clinical Research since 1996 till now, and member of the National Bioequivalence Committee and the National Committee on Good Laboratory Practice.

Dujeepa Samarasekera is the Deputy Head, Medical Education Unit, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Prior to joining NUS, he was a Medical Educationalist attached to the Centre for Medical and Health Science Education (CMHSE), University of Auckland, New Zealand, and the Medical Education Development And Research Centre (MEDARC), University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. After graduating as a medical doctor from University of Colombo he trained further in medical education at University of Maastricht. Dr Samarasekera has been involved in curriculum planning, evaluation, and student assessment at both undergraduate and postgraduate level health professional courses. He provides educational expertise and staff development to the medical faculties and other health professional institutions. He is the Co-chair for faculty development at the National University Health System (NUHS) Residency program and a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee of NUHS. He serves as a member of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee of Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Dr. Samarasekera is in the editorial boards of South East Asian Journal of Medical Education (SEAJME) and Korean Journal of Medical Education. His main research interests are in effective teaching/learning behaviours and assessment.

Ms Ang Hui Gek is the Director, Allied Health Division, Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She holds a concurrent appointment as the Chief Pharmacist of the Ministry of Health (MOH), Singapore and serves also as Registrar of the Singapore Pharmacy Council. After attaining her BSc (Pharm) in Singapore, Ms Ang went on to receive her Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy from Australia, followed by a distinction in her Master of Business Administration from the UK. Ms Ang's career has been marked by outstanding professional excellence. Her contributions to pharmacy practice and management are evident from her numerous awards and appointments in major committees in SGH and Ministry of Health and external organisations. In the area of education, Ms Ang continues on her learning journey post–MBA and is an alumni of Kellogg School of Management (USA). She presently sits on the Advisory Board of SGH–Postgraduate Allied Health Institute and is a member of the Temasek Polytechnic Applied Science School Advisory Committee.

Gayle Gliva-McConvey is the Director of the Professional Skills Teaching and Assessment Center at Eastern Virginia Medical School. For 37 years she has worked with the Standardized Patient (SP) methodology. She has authored/coauthored 18 publications on SPs, presented at over 90 conferences and developed SP programs internationally including schools in China and Moldova. In 1998 Mrs. Gliva–McConvey received an award from the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) recognizing her contributions. She is a founding board member of the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) and currently on the Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Technology/Standards and Certification executive committees.

Donald Hill as visiting associate professor directed the Health Ethics, Law and Professionalism track (HELP) during the first two years of the revised undergraduate medical course at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUHS, Singapore, from July 2008 to April 2010. He had previously taught postgraduate medical ethics in the University of Oxford at Ethox and the Society of Apothecaries in London, and undergraduate medical ethics in London at Imperial and KCL. He has also run a module in environmental philosophy within a KCL master's course. He has been a member of the Oxford Tropical Research Ethics Committee. Donald will now be facilitating workshops for the UK Clinical Ethics Network. He has an academic background in philosophy.

Paul Ulhas Macneill is Professor of Ethics and Law in Medicine in the Centre for Biomedical Ethics, National University of Singapore (NUS). He is an active member of the Professionalism Committee at NUS and has co–authored a recent report on professionalism, and new strategies for teaching professionalism in medicine. He has a long experience of teaching ethics and health law to medical students in Australia. Paul is particularly interested in teaching methods and is developing an on–line model for teaching ethics. He has published on bioethics and teaching ethics–most recently on 'Art and bioethics'; 'Balancing ethical reasoning and emotional sensibility' and 'Yoga and ethics: the importance of practice'.

He was President of the Australasian Bioethics Association (2000–2003), a Board member of the International Association of Bioethics (2001–2009), and convener and President of the 7th World Congress of Bioethics in Sydney in 2004. He is Co–ordinator of the Internatonal Arts Bioethics Network and Presenter of an Arts Bioethics exhibition and performance program in the 9th World Congress of Bioethics in Croatia in 2008, and a similar program in the 10th World Congress of Bioethics held in Singapore (July 2010).

Rajendran Kanagasuntheram graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 1971 and practiced general surgery before joining the Department of Anatomy in 1979 where he has served for the past 30 years teaching both medical and dental undergraduates as well as postgraduates. His main interest besides medical education has been in the development of multimedia material for the teaching of anatomy. Assoc Professor Rajendran is actively involved in the curriculum development of the medical school. He chairs the Structure/Development Track for First Year Medicine. He has received the NUS Faculty Teaching Excellence Awards in 1997 and 1998 and the NUS Outstanding Educator Award in 2004.

Anne Farmakidis is the director and managing editor of Academic Medicine, the scholarly journal of the Association of American Medical Colleges.
