Profile
Dr Chan is a law scholar with an interest in bioethics and health law. She is a Research Fellow at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE), National University of Singapore. She has held several lectureships in universities in the UK prior to joining CBmE. Her current work focuses on the legal and ethical aspects of cross-border data transfer under the Future Health Technology research programme on trustworthy data governance. She is interested in researching the law and ethics of health technologies and the governance of health data.
Research
Hui Yun’s research interests are situated broadly within the fields of bioethics and health law, focusing on law and health technology, health governance, and the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. She also has expertise in the law and ethics of advance directives, end-of-life care from both legal and ethical perspectives and comparative health law and ethics. Her recent publication explored the application of artificial intelligence in making future healthcare plans and the legal and ethical implications.
Hui Yun has published in the area of healthcare decision-making law and ethics, organ donation, and a monograph on advance healthcare decision-making: Advance Directives: Rethinking Regulation, Autonomy and Healthcare Decision-making. She has written about the legal and ethical aspects of Covid-19 related issues, such as the legal implications of burial restrictions to grieving families in the UK, the importance of mental wellbeing during the pandemic and the legal and ethical obligations of healthcare providers to provide healthcare workers with appropriate personal protective equipment.
