Introduction
We are committed to helping you develop your interests in healthcare ethics beyond the curriculum. As a medical student or another health professional student in NUS, there are many opportunities for you to get involved in research with the team at the Centre for Biomedical Ethics. You could work with a team member to develop your own research ideas into an academic paper or other output, or you could make a contribution to the research projects that are underway in the Centre.
Please do not worry if you do not yet have a clear idea of what research in ethics you would like to pursue. Just get in touch if you are interested and we can have an informal chat about how we can best support you.

Understanding self-care at medical school
In this video, 3rd and 4th year medical students, Darius Wan and Nila Ravindran, outline the research work they have been working on to produce systematic reviews on the ethics of key issues in medical training and practice, including burnout, self-care and moral distress. They also explain how they have translated their research studies into published academic papers and consider how to navigate the journey into obtaining ethics research experience.
Ethical challenges in integrating traditional Chinese medicine with a biomedical model of healthcare
In this video, 2rd year medical student, Zera Te, outlines the research project she has been working in with members of the CBmE team. She explains how recent priorities in health policy in Singapore emphasise the importance of integrating traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with a biomedical model of healthcare, and explore some of the philosophical and ethical challenges that integration can give rise to.
