This course aims to introduce students to the latest technological innovations enabling Precision Medicine. Some of the latest industry trends will be examined. Distinguished guest speakers from industry will be invited to present their technologies.

Learning Outcomes

Overall learning outcome include appreciation and understanding of key innovative technologies in precision medicine with real-world examples.

Through the project work, students will have an opportunity to perform in-depth research and present their findings on a key innovation making precision medicine a reality.

  • Biomarker discovery – multi-omics approach, biosensing, predictive biomarkers
  • Digital biomarkers – digital health, sensors, wearables, implantables, portable
    • Drug development – Organ-on-chips, artificial intelligence, cell therapy
    • Materials/implants – 3D printing, nano-biomaterials
    • Devices – Bioelectronic medicine (electroceuticals), bioelectromagnetics, assistive devices
