It was great learning from Prof. Lomanto during my fellowship in ASTC. I acquired huge amounts of knowledge and surgical skills and developed a very professional attitude during my stay. My fellowship at ASTC under the tutelage of Prof. Davide Lomanto has been one of the most memorable stages in my life. I acquired not only new surgical skills and knowledge but also learned how to be a better person and a better doctor. The technology and the different modules in ASTC improved my surgical skills and Prof. Lomanto encouraged me to improve myself and to always learn new things. He is like a potter who moulded me to become a better surgeon and a better person. Thank you Prof. Lomanto for being such a great mentor to me during my fellowship training at NUH, Singapore. Having a state-of-the-art training facility in ASTC at our disposal was the icing on the cake. This was where we were allowed to practice and fine tune our skills, learn on endo-trainers and in the animal lab, and use the latest devices and equipment. The entire ASTC team is doing a great job.
I will be joining the Department of MIS, King's College London in January 2019. My tenure at NUH obviously played a role during my selection process. My wish is that, as I embark on my future journey in academic and clinical surgery, I can have the same amount of passion and commitment towards training fellow doctors and junior colleagues and practicing the fine art of surgery and patient care that I saw at ASTC.
