The aim of this clinic is to provide expert help to N2CR researchers who wish to consult our research pathologist about their tissue work. \nIf you need pathologist’s input in the following areas\, please complete the attached form and email it to radhika@nus.edu.sg and we will arrange a 30-minute timeslot for discussion on the designated day. Kindly bring along your physical glass slides with sample tissue for immediate examination. \nNature of help provided: \n\nMorphological analysis of mouse tissues for presence of tumour cells and/or inflammatory and immune infiltrates.\nViewing of IHC staining to help ascertain that the expression of the marker(s) of interest is present on the expected cell type.\n\nOur hope is that early access to pathology input will help researchers make subsequent decisions regarding their tissue work protocols. \n

DESCRIPTION:The NUS Centre for Cancer Research (N2CR) Functional Precision Medicine Asia Symposium will be held in Singapore on Tuesday\, 14 November 2023. This meeting will showcase the growing field of functional precision medicine in Asia\, focusing on the phenotypic measurement of tumor arising from translational research and its intersection with clinical practice. In the past decade\, we have made huge progress towards applying multi-omics approaches to match cancer patients to the best treatments. Such approaches have been beneficial yet limited to small\, focused populations for very specific targeted agents. On the other hand\, ex vivo drug sensitivity has been long established but neglected approach for decades as predictor of patient response. In the last 5 years\, emergence of newer technologies for quantitative phenotypic analysis and patient-derived avatar models exploited to exhibit true clinical evidence has strengthened the potential for functional precision medicine. We are proud to kick off the first Asia based event by bringing together leaders in the field of functional precision medicine to discuss how various functional readouts can result into better target identification as well as treatment prediction. \nClick here for more information

The aim of this clinic is to provide expert help to N2CR researchers who wish to consult our research pathologist about their tissue work. \nIf you need pathologist’s input in the following areas\, please complete the following form (click here to download) and email it to radhika@nus.edu.sg and we will arrange a 30-minute timeslot for discussion on the designated day. Kindly bring along your physical glass slides with sample tissue for immediate examination. \nNature of help provided: \n\nMorphological analysis of mouse tissues for presence of tumour cells and/or inflammatory and immune infiltrates.\nViewing of IHC staining to help ascertain that the expression of the marker(s) of interest is present on the expected cell type.\n\nOur hope is that early access to pathology input will help researchers make subsequent decisions regarding their tissue work protocols. \nThank you! \n

SUMMARY:Joint Grant Call: Early Cancer Intervention – NCIS and N2CR
DESCRIPTION:Joint Grant Call: Early Cancer Intervention – National University Cancer Institute\, Singapore (NCIS) and NUS Centre for Cancer Research (N2CR) \nWe are pleased to announce a joint grant call for proposals on Early Cancer Intervention (ECI)\, a collaboration between NCIS and the N2CR- ECI Thematic Programme. This initiative aims to support research projects that bridge clinical and fundamental perspectives\, with a specific focus on addressing early cancer intervention needs in Singapore and the surrounding region. \nObjective: \nThe primary objective of this seed grant initiative is to provide initial funding for projects exploring novel ideas in the realm of early cancer intervention within the Singaporean and regional context. We seek to support projects that may lack sufficient preliminary data but demonstrate significant potential impact and can generate data for subsequent competitive funding applications to national agencies. \n  \nAreas of funding include\, but are not limited to:  \n\nDiagnostic Technologies\nPreliminary Biomarker Discovery and/or Development\nConceptual Screening Programs for community-based screening\nEarly-Stage Intervention Strategies\n\nFunding Details: \n\n\n\nEach grant award is capped at $100\,000 per award with a maximum duration of 18 months.\n\n\n\nEligibility: \n\nProposals must involve a clinical Principal Investigator (PI) who is either a primary or affiliate member NCIS\, and a PI conducting bench (or preclinical) research who is an ECI-themed (primary\, secondary\, or affiliate) member of N2CR.\nIn cases where neither PI holds a primary appointment within NCIS\, a co-Investigator with a primary NCIS appointment should be included.\nEach PI is limited to one proposal as a Lead PI and one additional proposal as Co-PI (maximum of 2 proposals).\n\n  \nGrant Selection Process and Submission Timeline: \n\nIdeas Pitch Meeting (22nd Feb\, 4pm at MD6\, Level 12 Conference Room)\n\n\nTeams pitch their innovative ideas with 4-5 slides to members in attendance. Audience members provide constructive feedback and vote for their top four proposals.\n\n\nInvitation to submit a full seed grant proposal (submit proposals by 4th March\, 10am)\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTop-voted proposals in (A) are invited to strengthen their ideas based on audience feedback and submit a comprehensive seed grant proposal for grant review (proposal form enclosed). DESCRIPTION:Dear all\, \nWe would like to invite you to the upcoming Translational Exchange (TREX) club in-person meeting\, to be held on Wednesday 6th March 2024\, 4.30pm to 6pm. As illustrated below\, TREX club meetings are held to facilitate collaboration between researchers from Cancer Science Institute (CSI)\, NUS Centre for Cancer Research (N2CR) and National University Cancer Institute (NCIS). This round’s grant call is earmarked for collaborations between surgeons and scientists. Projects discussed at the meeting will be eligible for funding and will be selected by vote. \nMeeting details \nDate: Wednesday 6th March 2024 \nTime: 4.30 pm to 6 pm \nVenue: MD6-13-01 – CeTM – L13 conference room (13-02N) \n \n  \nFunding Details: \n\n2 projects will be eligible for funding at this grant call (1 CSI+NCIS researcher pair\, and 1 N2CR+NCIS researcher pair)\nSGD 30\,000 per project for a 1-year period\nFor this call\, funding is made available to researchers/clinicians from CSI\, N2CR members\, and NCIS (Surgical Oncologists)\n\nKey selection criteria: \n\nNew collaboration between a CSI researcher and an NCIS researcher (preferred over existing collaborations).\nNew collaboration between an N2CR researcher and an NCIS researcher (preferred over existing collaborations).\nUtilizes novel biology/ technology from CSI/N2CR\, for a clinically relevant scenario.\nPotential to be completed within a year and form the nucleus for a larger collaborative grant.\nFinal approval for selected project from Directors of CSI\, N2CR and NCIS.\n\n  \nTo participate in this grant call\, please indicate the following to Ann (ann.koay@nus.edu.sg) and Susan (tngsusan@nus.edu.sg) by 21st February 2024 (Wednesday) \n\nIf you are available to attend this meeting\n1-2 liner description of your research/clinical interests\n\n  \nPlease direct any queries regarding this grant call to Ann.
