About the project

The Research Intern will be involved in a multidisciplinary and collaborative research study investigating the effects of microplastic exposure on mother-child pairs. Our research focuses on the epidemiology of diseases in children and the impact of the exposome during the early developmental phases of life on early life outcomes.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a new and novel longitudinal cohort study, where he/she will provide support to the research team in various tasks including study visits, data collection and analysis, laboratory work including sample processing, literature search and administrative duties. The ideal candidate should be proactive, a team player and willing to learn.

Job Skills:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. life sciences, healthcare or biomedical sciences).
  • Strong interest in research and a desire to learn about the process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data entry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and study participants.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge in lab work and/or statistical analysis is advantageous.

 

Job start date: 15 Dec 2024 onwards.

Job end date: 6 months (Extendable)

Expected total working hrs/student: 40 hrs/ week
