Research Ethics
Authors should ensure, where necessary, the approval from their respective Institutional Review Boards (IRB) or Research Ethical Committees (REC), where applicable, is sought prior to the submission of their research materials for publication with TAPS.
Informed Consent Policy
The Belmont Report and the Nuremberg Code both address voluntary informed consent as a requirement for the ethical conduct of human subjects’ research. Voluntary informed consent is a pre-requisite for a subject’s participation in research. It is crucial to provide sufficient information to a participant so he/she can make an informed decision about whether to enrol in a study or to continue to participate voluntarily. Obtaining consent involves informing the participants about their rights, the purpose of the study, the procedures to be undergone, and the potential risks and benefits of participation. The participants have the right to “withdraw” or “opt-out” of the study or procedure at any time.
Identifying details (names, dates of birth, identity numbers and other information) of the participants that were studied should not be published in written descriptions, photographs, and genetic profiles unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the participant (or parent or guardian if the participant is incapable) gave written informed consent for publication.
All manuscripts related to the human subjects or samples drawn from humans should receive informed consent according to the rule of Institutional Review Board of the author’s institute. The principal investigator should ensure the copies of written informed consent documents are kept for studies on human subjects.
Declaration of Helsinki
All research materials that involve human subjects or identifiable human data or components shall adhere to the Helsinki-ethical principles as stated by the World Medical Association. Submission of a manuscript with TAPS implies that the author has agreed to and complied with the Declaration of Helsinki throughout the entire execution of research work.
Funding
All authors are to ensure all funding sources must and should be clearly stated in their manuscript.
Conflict of Interest
All parties, including authors and reviewers, are required to declare any conflict of interest to maintain the integrity of a manuscript and its review process.
To declare conflict of interest or for enquiries, please contact us.
