Professor Jen-Hung Yang graduated from National Yang-Ming University (NYU) School of Medicine (MD) in 1985 and Institute of Clinical Medicine (PhD) of NYU in 1994. He completed his dermatology residency training at Veterans General Hospital Taipei (1985-1991). He was the Chairman of Department of Dermatology at China Medical University and Hospital in Taichung, Taiwan (1991-1995). Then he served as Director of Centre for Faculty Development (2006-2009), Vice-Director of School of Medicine (2006-2008), and Director of School of Medicine (2009-2010), and the Acting Dean of College of Medicine of Chung Shan Medical University (CSMU), and the vice-Superintendent of CSMU Hospital (2010-2011). He was then invited as the Dean of Tzu Chi University College of Medicine for 8 years (2011-2019), and as the vice-Superintendent of Tzu Chi General Hospital at Hualien (2011-13), and vice-Superintendent of Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) Hospital at Kaohsiung (2021 01-08). He has been a practicing dermatologist and a medical educator for more than 3 decades at CMU, CSMU, TCU, KMU and those Medical Centres and Changhua Christian Hospital. He has been an experienced medical accreditor in Taiwan and has been elected as the Member of TMAC since 2012 and currently the Chief Executive Directo the TMAC; in addition, he is also the Member of Joint Commission of Taiwan (JCT), the authorized Accreditation Body of Teaching Hospitals in Taiwan, since 2010.
His research interests focused mainly on medical education in the areas of curriculum design, work-based assessments, faculty development, professionalism, and medical humanities. Furthermore, his research interests on dermatological science are to investigate the effects of mitochondrial mutations on human skin aging, and to study the inflammatory mechanism of α–hydroxy acids (AHAs) and related compounds on human skin cells. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles in areas of dermatological science and medical education.
