Dr Pacifico Eric Eusebio Calderon is a physician whose work in bioethics and medical education engages with questions of ethics, law, and professionalism in healthcare. He is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Professionalism, Medical Ethics and Humanities at St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine–William H. Quasha Memorial; Head of Clinical Ethics Services at St. Luke’s Medical Center (Quezon City and Global City); Head of the Bioethics Unit at the National Children’s Hospital; and Head of the Department of Advanced Medical Education and Research at VRP Medical Center, Philippines.
Pacifico earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines; a Master of Bioethics from the University of Sydney as an Australia Awards Scholar; and a Master of Education from Monash University, Australia. His research centres on ethical clinical practice and the formation of reflective health professionals, with continuing engagement in clinical ethics and the quality and safety of patient care. He has held research visits at Kyoto University as a Takeda Science Foundation Fellow, Japan; Ruhr University Bochum, Germany; and the University of Milan, Italy. He is currently completing a PhD within the Faculty of Laws, University College London.
