Dr Anbarasi is a Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology with a PhD in competency-based dental education, emphasising collective competence. She serves as Member Secretary of the University Curriculum Committee and the Dental Education Unit. Her contribution has driven competency-based curriculum development in Oral Medicine and Radiology, initiated by the Dental Council of India. She introduced many innovative teaching methods like – flipped clinical training for complete denture prosthesis, integrated case scripts to enhance diagnostic competency in novice learners, and the TEXTRA method. These approaches promote active learning and practical skill mastery in dental education.

In 2019, she received the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research Teaching Excellence Award for her innovative pedagogical contributions.

Her research interests include enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, redefining credential value beyond grades and graduation outcomes, and developing inclusive formative assessments based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
