In this room, common shared equipment such as autoclaves and laboratory glassware washers are provided. Autoclaves allow sterilization of media and lab ware while glassware washer provides thorough cleaning of lab ware.

The National University Hospital is a tertiary hospital and major referral centre with over 50 medical, surgical and dental specialties, offering a comprehensive suite of specialist care for adults, women and children. It is the only public hospital in Singapore to offer a paediatric kidney and liver transplant programme, in addition to kidney, liver and pancreas transplantation for adults.
The Hospital was opened on 24 June 1985 as Singapore’s first restructured hospital. Each year, the Hospital attends to more than one million patients.
As an academic health institution, patient safety and good clinical outcomes are the focus of the Hospital. It plays a key role in the training of doctors, nurses, allied health and other healthcare professionals. Translational research is pivotal in the Hospital’s three-pronged focus, and paves the way for new cures and treatment.

The NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Dean's office, is located on the 11th floor of the NUHS Tower Block. It primarily drives the core strategic priorities of the School in Education and Research with the support of the various Divisions and Executive team.
The cell culture room is equipped with Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs) where researchers can perform their cell culture work safely.
Each laboratory bench features chemically resistant worktop, configurable storage (open shelving and mobile pedestal) and sufficient work space (width and depth) for researchers carrying out research activities on them. The laboratory bench is also removable to allow customization of the open lab by researchers. Compatible, height adjustable lab chairs with back rest and foot-ring are also provided.
The walk-in cold room is maintained at a specific temperature. It allows researchers to carry out certain research activities in a colder environment.
The fume hood room is equipped with fume hoods designed to limit exposure to hazardous or toxic fumes and vapours.
Users can enter the dark room through a revolving door, allowing light sensitive procedures to be carried out uninterrupted. This space caters for research work such as chemiluminescent Western Blot involving the use of x-ray film.

The NUS Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE) was established in September 2006 in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine through a generous gift by the Chen Su Lan Trust. We work to develop understanding, capacity for good judgement, and sound ethical practice in the context of healthcare provision, biomedical science and health-related policy development.
CBmE is a thriving centre for learning, teaching and research relating to ethical and legal aspects of healthcare and biomedical sciences. We study issues of broad international significance with a particular interest in learning for and from Singapore and Asia.

NUS Medicine has 2 levels of dry research laboratory space.
The Vectra Multispectral Imager is an automated high-throughput system which enables slide scanning and analysis for tissue and TMA samples. Features of the system include scanning of H&E, IHC or IF stains with the ability for multi-colour or multi-spectral imaging. An inForm tissue finder software allows the system to automatically segment regions of interest based on user specifications. The quantitative data can be generated and exported to industry-standard formats.

The Quantitative Proteomics Core at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore offers cutting-edge quantitative proteomics technology and supports proteomics applications all the way from help with experimental design over sample preparation and mass spectrometry measurement to initial data analysis and data storage. We currently operate a Q Exactive HF hybrid quadrupole-Orbitrap mass spectrometer in combination with an EASY-nLC 1200 uHPLC system. The data analysis is performed on an in-house server using the freely available quantitative proteomics software package MaxQuant. We are committed to providing quantitative mass spectrometry solutions and to this end support researchers in using SILAC (Stable Isotope Labeling by Amino Acids in Cell Culture) or label-free quantitation

Lecture Theatre 35 is one of two 300-seat lecture theatres located in the Centre for Translational Medicine (MD6), where large-group lectures are held for students of NUS Medicine.
The mission of the Centre for Healthcare Simulation (CHS) is to develop a world-class immersive, simulation-based learning environment where medical education is enhanced through simulation technology, innovation and research. Since the establishment of CHS, simulation teaching is embedded into all years of medical and nursing training.
The CHS comprises a simulated Operating Theatre (OT), an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an Emergency Room (ER), a Paediatrics Acute Ward, a Labour Ward, eight clinical wards, two procedural rooms and 60 consultation rooms. With a suite of high fidelity simulators, part task trainers and a pool of trained Standardised Patients, faculty members are able to plan and design innovative programmes where medical and nursing students are given opportunities to learn various clinical skills, team training and communication skills in a safe environment.
The world's first unique human body where, by using VR headsets and hand-held controllers, learners perform dissection on a virtual human cadaver to reveal underlying structures, layer by layer.
This facility is able to simulate a virtual interactive environment which is difficult to simulate in real life such as a mass casualty environment. Students perform triage of simulated casualties involved in a terrorist bomb incident and categorise the severity of injuries.
The Operetta CLS high-content analysis system is a medium throughput microplate imaging instrument that delivers the speed and sensitivity for everyday assays, with inbuilt software that enables researchers to control every aspect of their high-content analysis or screening experiment through a single workflow-based user interface. The software enables them to discriminate phenotypes reliably, analyze even the most complex cellular models in 3D. With its image data storage and analysis system, researchers can access, reanalyze, store, and share image data and other across your organization.
The Illumina NextSeq 500 System is a desktop sequencer with power and flexibility to carry out applications such as whole genome sequencing, exome sequencing, whole transcriptome sequencing, mRNA-Seq, and methylation sequencing, among others. In one run it can sequence up to 16 exomes, up to 20 transcriptomes, up to 96 targeted panels, up to 40 gene expression profiling samples, and a full human genome at 30x coverage. The instrument also features a touch screen interface, automated software, and run statistics that can be monitored from any location.
The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine utilizes Virtual Reality simulation technology to support classroom teaching of complex principles through its own Virtual Reality Simulation modules including the Virtual Interactive Human Anatomy (VIHA) model, the Virtual Interactive Simulation Environment (VISE) model and the PASS-IT (Patient Safety as Inter-professional Training) module. The CHS’ mission is to leverage on the latest proven and validated technologies to enhance and reinforce classroom teaching of complex didactic principles, algorithms and procedures.

The Centre for Translational Medicine (MD6) was officially opened on 3 July 2012 by Singapore's then Deputy Prime Minster and the Chairman of the National Research Foundation, Mr Teo Chee Hean. The 41,000 square-meter building houses both laboratory and teaching spaces to cater to the needs of advanced education. There are also themed labs and a BSL-3 facility to cater for bio-medical research and translational medicine research work.
Leaners use this task trainer and manikin to insert a nasogastric tube into the stomach for drainage and/or feeding.
This 17-storey facility houses research labs, teaching and learning spaces, as well as student activity areas of NUS Medicine. Also fondly known as the Science Canteen, it is the place to go for faculty, staff and students for over 20 years. The 700-seater canteen had recently undergone a two-year reconstruction project and now sports a refreshed look with lush green foliage.

The CIRC facility features a GE PETtrace 860 cyclotron which can produce isotopes such as fluorine-18, carbon-11, nitrogen-13, and oxygen-15. The Cyclotron is capable of both proton and deuteron beams and has a maximum proton beam current of 100 microamperes at 16.5MeV.

Gas-chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS) is an analytical method that can separate and identify volatile and semi-volatile compounds. GCMS can be used to detect, identify and quantify trace amounts of analytes in a sample and is an established gold standard method for quality control analysis of the composition of edible oils and fats. This highly-sensitive technique is being used at WIL@NUS for a number of applications including detection of contaminants like pesticides and toxins in food, establishing flavor profiles of aroma cooking oils and analysis of fatty acid/ triglyceride profiles of edible oils and specialty fats. Our state-of-the art GCMS facility is equipped to handle a diverse range of samples from cocoa butter to chocolate, edible oils to fermented foods and clinical samples of patients with fatty liver disease.

The mission of the Centre for Healthcare Simulation (CHS) is to develop a world-class immersive, simulation-based learning environment where medical education is enhanced through simulation technology, innovation and research. The CHS comprises a simulated Operating Theatre (OT), an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an Emergency Room (ER), a Paediatrics Acute Ward, a Labour Ward, eight clinical wards, two procedural rooms and 60 consultation rooms.
