Specially designed by A/Prof Sim Tiow Suan & the Research Facilities Management team

Biomedical research meets heritage art in the Vanda NUS Medicine batik series. An Asian art form with a methodology of creating motifs that convey deep meaning, history, and philosophies, the designs feature icons associated with various biomedical research initiatives, e.g. the heart (cardiovascular), the neuron (aging), stem cells (cancer), microorganisms (infectious disease), DNA (synthetic biology), mother & child (GUSTO programme) as well as the Rod of Asclepius (healing).

Together with Singapore’s national flower, Papilionanthe ‘Miss Joaquim’, the batik designs express the vision and mission of the NUS medical school in inspiring health for all.

Our NUSMed Orchid Batik corporate gifts can be customised upon request for your department events, colleagues or guests. We also have ready stocks of NUSMed Orchid Batik mousepads, foldable mouse, fabric masks, polo T-shirts, reversible tote bags and zip pouches available for purchase.

NUS Medicine Safety Day

A SAFE YOU IS A SAFE ME

- Design -
Bespoke Batik

A unique feature of this Safety Day is the batik motif conceived and designed by the organising committee and RFM, respectively. Symbols representing both Medicine and Biomedical Sciences are cleverly incorporated. Can you spot all of them? The rod of Asclepius, amoeba, DNA double helix, neuron, picornavirus, paramecium and stethoscope.

- Celebrate -
Our Safety Culture

Held once every 2 years, the Safety Day gives us the opportunity to learn, re-learn and be reminded about the fundamental importance of safety at work. It is critical that safety at work is made an abiding, enduring mindset and practice. Every one of us must be determined to create a work environment in which all of us – staff, students, visitors – can work and study freely, comfortably and safely.

- Applause -
NUSSHA Awardees

The School performed exceptionally well in the last NUS Safety & Health Awards (NUSSHA). Thanks to the hardwork of all 12 participating departments, we won one Excellence, five Commendation and six Commitment awards, making us the most decorated faculty for safety. You have done the School proud!
