Ideally, they also investigate why the results may vary among studies, compare the performance of alternative tests, and help the reader to understand the evidence in a clinical context. The Cochrane Handbook for DTA reviews provides guidance to undertaking such reviews.
Methodological Expectations for Cochrane Reviews (MECIR)
The best practices for conducting and reporting a systematic review is now documented in a booklet ensuring that both researchers and editorial teams have a shared understanding of the expectations. These standards provide clarity in line with the Cochrane Handbook about expectations on how to conduct a new Cochrane Intervention Review. They are not considered to be applicable to updates of Cochrane Reviews at this point.
