Profile
Dr Teng obtained her medical degree from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). She then joined the Psychiatry Basic and Advanced Specialty training programme. She received the Singapore Psychiatry Association Book Prize for the NUS Master of Medicine (Psychiatry) examination in 2011. She obtained specialist accreditation for Psychiatry in 2014.
As a Clinician-Educator, Dr Teng is involved in undergraduate medical education and postgraduate psychiatry residency training. She completed the Certificate in Medical and Health Professions Education programme at NUS in 2016. She received the National University Health System Academic Medicine Development Award, which supported the completion of a Master of Science (MSc) programme in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at King’s College London. She worked with the UK E-Risk Longitudinal Twin Study research team for her MSc research project, titled “Evaluating the prevalence, predictors and correlates of interpersonal trauma in British adolescents”. Dr Teng received a distinction and the 2017 Michael Rutter Prize for her performance at the course. She has an interest in research on adolescent and maternal mood disorders, and using technology to aid in mental health assessment and treatment.
