Profile

Dr Cheryl Chang graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2014. She then joined the National Healthcare Group (NHG) National Psychiatry Residency Programme in 2016, where she rotated through various departments including National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Institute of Mental Health (IMH). She was conferred a Membership in the Royal College of Psychiatrists from the United Kingdom in 2018 subsequently. During her residency years, she held leadership roles and served as the President of the Singapore Young Psychiatrist and Trainees in 2019, and the Chief Resident of the Psychiatry Residency Programme in 2020. She completed her training successfully and obtained her specialist accreditation for Psychiatry in 2021.

Having rotated through various Consultation Liaison services for 3 years as a trainee, Dr Chang is now part of the Consultation Liaison team in NUH and Alexandra Hospital (AH), with special interests in managing the occurrence of psychiatric and medical conditions across all ages, and transplant psychiatry. She also has special interests in managing patients with mood disorders and insomnia in outpatient settings.

Apart from her clinical interests, Dr Chang is also a passionate educator involved in teaching both undergraduate students and psychiatry residents undergoing the same residency programme as herself. As a Senior Resident, she was awarded the Medical Teaching Recognition Award by the NHG Pre-Professional Education Office in 2019 for her efforts and contributions to undergraduate clinical teaching for LKC School of Medicine and NUS YLL School of Medicine. She is currently appointed as a Clinical Core Faculty Member for the NHG National Psychiatry Residency Programme, continuing her passion in guiding trainees through their specialist training.
