Profile
Dr Lui Yit Shiang obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2002 and subsequently became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2013. He is also certified as a Substance Abuse & Gambling Addiction Counsellor by the Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling. He went on to get a Master of Science in Addiction Studies at King’s College London (United Kingdom) in 2016.
He is currently working as a visiting consultant in the department with a clinical focus in transplant psychiatry and addiction medicine, particularly dual disorders within the medical and surgical disciplines in the hospital. Currently, he has also developed an interest towards palliative care psychiatry.
Dr Lui has also done some research on the attitudes and perceptions of healthcare workers towards their patients with alcohol use problem and is interested in screening and brief interventions for substance use. His graduating thesis was on Very Brief Advice in Smoking Cessation.
