Brief Abstract:
Professor Maughan will begin with a brief history of CFS, and discuss its many names. He will use the case history of his wife, Cathleen, who has CFS to discuss the causes, the many symptoms, and the currently accepted criteria for diagnosing CFS. Professor Maughan will give a brief summary of our current research at the University of Vermont, in which we are testing for the presence of antibodies against citrullinated proteins in serum samples from CFS and control subjects. Finally, he will discuss treatments for helping CFS patients.
