With time, the body attempts to restore normal structure and function &#8211; this process is known as <strong>healing\/repair.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Think about it<\/strong>&#8230; : Sometimes, healing occurs primarily by regeneration (i,.e. same tissue type grows back), whereas in others, it occurs by scarring &#8211; why do you think this happens?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where to start?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s define things.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is healing and repair?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Healing\/Repair <\/strong>&#8211; The body&#8217;s attempt, after injury, at restoring normal structure and function. It usually consists of two processes &#8211; tissue <u>regeneration <\/u>and\u00a0<u>fibrous organization<\/u> (scar formation), in varying combinations.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\">Main events ( Click here to see definitions)<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\"><i>Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Regeneration &#8211; <\/strong>Growth of cells and tissues to replace lost structures (with restoration of normal architecture).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organisation\/Fibrous repair\u00a0 &#8211; <\/strong>Conversion of an inflammatory exudate into a fibrous scar. Also called healing by fibrous repair. How?
