Neoplasia<\/strong>(“new growth”)<\/p>\n

Neoplasm<\/strong>: An abnormal mass of tissue, the growth of which exceeds and is uncoordinated with that of the normal tissues and persists in the same excessive manner after cessation of the stimuli which evoked the change.<\/p>\n

In general, the words “neoplasm” and “tumour” are used interchangeably. Neoplasms can be benign or malignant.<\/p>\n

Neoplasms are named according to the tissue type\u00a0and nature (benign vs malignant). Most tissue types will have both benign and malignant counterparts.<\/p>\n
