The GIT is basically a long hollow tube that serves to propel food and do things to it, in order that we can absorb as many nutrients from it as we can, before disposing of what's left. As with previous chapters, this chapter aims to help to organise the information into the BIG PICTURE.

We have also prepared a REAL LIFE CASE for you to see how the pathologist handles a specimen of the colon received in the lab, in order to provide an accurate DIAGNOSIS.
