Our department is dedicated to providing comprehensive training in a range of advanced research techniques, including tissue-based studies, molecular biology, and animal models. These internships are ideal for students or graduates who wish to gain hands-on experience in the cutting-edge fields of pathology and biomedical research.

Interns will have the opportunity to develop expertise in:

Tissue-related Research: Learn various histopathological techniques such as tissue sectioning, staining, immunohistochemistry, which are crucial for diagnosing and understanding disease pathology.

Molecular and Cell Biology Techniques: Gain experience in fundamental molecular biology methods like DNA/RNA extraction for next generation sequencing, PCR, western blotting, flow cytometry, spatial transcriptomics, etc, all of which are essential for studying cellular behaviour and disease progression at the molecular level.

Animal Work: Work with in vivo models to investigate disease mechanisms and evaluate therapeutic interventions, offering interns a chance to contribute to translational research that bridges laboratory discoveries with clinical applications.

The department fosters a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment where interns will work alongside experienced scientists and clinical researchers. Through mentorship and training, interns will be encouraged to develop critical thinking and research skills, with the potential to contribute to publications and present findings in academic forums.

Interns will work under the supervision of leading scientists in the department. We encourage potential applicants to directly contact the following PIs, based on their areas of interest, to express their intent to be part of our research programs:

 PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATORS

Dr Cheok Chit Fang

DNA damage response in mechanism of cancer

Dr Ding Ling Wen

Cancer vaccine

Dr Leong Sai Mun

Cancer cell altruism and polyaneuploid giant cells in cancer chemoresistance

A/Prof Ng Siok Bian

Molecular profiling and therapeutics for Epstein Barr Virus infected lymphomas

A/Prof Tan Soo Yong

Mechanism of lymphomas and Artificial intelligence in Pathology

A/Prof Victor Lee Kwan Min

Molecular mechanism of sarcoma

Research Pathology aims to attain world class standards of research in key focus areas such as haematolymphoid malignancies and AI Pathology.
