\nProf Ang is a passionate believer in developing the next generation of nurses and leaders.<\/p>\n
Professor Emily Ang, Head of the NUS Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing), has been appointed as the first Group Chief Nurse of the National University Health System (NUHS) with effect from 1 October 2019. This is concurrent to her role as Head of NUS Nursing.<\/p>\n
Prof Ang will work closely with the NUHS institutions’ Chief Nurses to develop the group’s strategic vision for Nursing in clinical practice, applied research and teaching. She will also ensure the delivery of quality nursing services across NUHS, as well as support its care transformation efforts.<\/p>\n
Prof Ang is a nurse leader with a strong sense of drive and passion, poised to achieve the strategic vision and values to transform and take NUHS nursing into its next phase, according to an email from NUHS Chief Executive Professor John Wong announcing her concurrent appointment.<\/p>\n
Besides her headship at NUS Nursing, Prof Ang has also served in the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) for more than a decade and had been instrumental in transforming oncology nursing.<\/p>\n
A passionate believer in developing the next generation of nurses and leaders, she has also played both a critical and nurturing role in the professional development of nursing in NUHS over the years. She collaborated with the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), a renowned global leader in Evidence-Based Healthcare, and established Singapore’s first JBI Collaborating Centre in the National University Hospital to promote evidence-based practice for nursing. She was appointed the founding Director from 2009-2016.<\/p>\n
Her service extends beyond NCIS and NUS Nursing. She is actively involved in workgroups at the national level, serving as a Member of the National Nursing Education Committee.<\/p>\n
Prof Wong also noted in the email to all staff that with over 40 years of tripartite (service, research and education) nursing experience, Prof Ang stands in good stead to support NUHS to integrate and unify the nursing profession.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
