Engaging in active ageing requires a holistic approach, where multiple aspects like physical, mental, social and financial health come into play. The new webinar series will bring value to the seniors by exploring the new \u2018Financial Health\u2019 aspect of active ageing, as an addition to the existing AWE Programme. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Writing a will is an important yet neglected part of financial planning. Some of us are unaware of the adverse consequences of not having a valid Will when we pass on, whereas the rest are simply procrastinating. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Beyond that, people are increasingly aware that it is crucial to have some arrangements made in case we are not able to make decisions on our own. Refer to this link: <\/span>https:\/\/www.msf.gov.sg\/opg\/Pages\/The-LPA-Where-to-find-a-Certificate-Issuer.aspx<span lang=\"EN-US\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Q: Is there a central registry for Will?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>A:<\/strong> For wills writing, you can choose to register with the Wills Registry at a cost of $50<\/span>. <span lang=\"EN-US\">Bear in mind the details of the wills are not revealed and if there are any updates, you would need to register again and pay the registration cost.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Q: If someone has a joint bank account with one of the adult children and subsequently, passes on without a will, can the other children contest to share the amount in the joint account?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>A:<\/strong> Joint bank account will be assigned based on the original signing instruction given during the account application, as to whether only one signature is required or a joint signature is required for fund withdrawals. If it\u2019s a single signature requirement, the surviving party has the right to withdraw the funds. If the requirement is to have a joint signature, both parties\u2019 signatures need to be present for the withdrawals.<\/span> With <span lang=\"EN-US\">no Wills by either of the account holders, it will follow the original instruction as per bank records.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">The other children reserve the right to contest the funds in the joint bank account. To do so, they need to engage a lawyer to pursue their case, which involves cost and time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Q: If we have CDP stocks when we pass on and our executor closed all bank accounts, how (or where) will the dividends be credited?
