The second exhibition places spotlight on youth mental health and the specially curated section seeks to initiate conversations about intergenerational bonding and the resilience of our youths.<\/p>\n

Months of hard work by the working team were geared towards bringing every element of the curation together to tell a meaningful story to the public. MSC would like to thank all who contributed in one way or another to the conceptualization, preparation and the eventual launch of the curation.<\/p>\n

We were honoured to have Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry for Health and Ministry for Communications and Information, as our Guest-of-Honour to officiate the launch of the new curation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The launch day programme started with a warm welcome by MSC\u2019s Centre Director \u2013 A\/Prof John Wong, who is also the Lin Jo Yan and Yeo Boon Khim Professor in Mental Health and Neuroscience.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Thereafter, our Guest-of-Honour, Dr Janil Puthucheary took the stage to deliver his speech. In his speech, he recognized the importance of raising awareness of youth mental health and applauded the milestone efforts by MSC and MAELab, both in developing useful resources through research and creating a creative space for public to engage in meaningful conversations.<\/p>\n

The curation launch was initiated with a symbolic move to attach the respective heartfelt messages penned and signed by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Mr Chua Song Khim (Deputy Chief Executive, NUHS), Ms Linda Neo (Chairperson of Art Science Council) and A\/Prof John Wong, to the \u2018Open Secret: Heart-to-Heart\u2019 wall.<\/p>\n

The main highlight of the launch day event was the exhibition tour led by the curator \u2013 John Tung, which featured an interesting artwork show-and-tell session by the students.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The students from the West Zone schools exude much confidence in voicing their thoughts and opinions about growing challenges and intergenerational relations.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The invited guests were the first to visit the newly launched exhibition and even personally interacted with the young artists of the curation.<\/p>\n

Singapore Youth Resilience Scale (SYRESS)<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Know your resilience profile today! Mind Science Centre (MSC) developed the Singapore Youth Resilience Scale (SYRESS) as a tool to examine the resilience profiles of Singapore youths. The derived scoring in the respective domains allows us to gain insights into the areas the youths can build on to achieve a resilient mind. Find out more HERE<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Mind + Parent: Raising a Resilient Child<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The new Mind Booklet succinctly summarized the key scenarios and strategies parents or caregivers can use in their daily interactions with their children, to instill positive coping methods from young. These strategies are based on MSC\u2019s SYRESS, which is a validated profiling tool that detailed the key 10 domains of resilience building that youths can tap on to cope with and overcome life stressors. In another words, through the booklet, we empower the parents or the youths themselves to take active steps in developing positive coping strategies that will accompany the youths through life.
