During his leisure time, he explored calligraphy, water color painting and even created artworks using stains on the hand towel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/medicine.nus.edu.sg\/nmsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/10\/2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3649\" width=\"599\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/medicine.nus.edu.sg\/nmsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/10\/2.png 1280w, https:\/\/medicine.nus.edu.sg\/nmsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/10\/2-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/medicine.nus.edu.sg\/nmsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/10\/2-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/medicine.nus.edu.sg\/nmsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/10\/2-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Through these activities, he was able to integrate mindfulness into his daily life. Beyond that, his artworks expressed wise sayings, which are the key takeaways he wished the audience will benefit from and regain their balance in life through the enlightenment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Here\u2019s a quick summary of the wisdom Prof Foo shared:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Emotions can cause illness. Emotions can also cure illness! So, Be Balance. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Less is more, more may bring more problems. The key to being balanced lies in simplicity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">The world is not perfect, so be tolerant. Collaborate even if we are different.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Remembering your core purpose and go forward with courage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">The 4 ways to managing stress: Be contented; Forgive and do good; Accept and adapt; Find time to relax <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Enjoy Nature, go with the Flow, and you will find Peace. The first of the series was themed \u2018Living, Working and Ageing in Singapore\u2019, delivered by Professor Norman Sartorius \u2013 former director of the World Health Organization&#8217;s Division of Mental Health, and former president of the World Psychiatric Association. The second lecture dived into the Traditional Chinese Medicine and Biomedical Perspectives of mental health to discover \u2018The Ecology of Longevity\u2019. The third lecture was a hybrid event at Goodwood Park Hotel as the audience gathered for an insightful talk on \u2018Music is good for my Mental Health\u2019 by Maestro Jeremy Monteiro. The recordings of the lecture series are available on MSC website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">OUR 4<sup>th<\/sup> KEYNOTE SPEAKER: PROF FOO KEONG TATT<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Professor Foo, an Emeritus Consultant at Singapore General Hospital and Clinical Professor at National University of Singapore, is well-known for his medical contributions to Urology. As a distinguished surgeon, he has won numerous awards in urological surgery. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">His philosophy &#8211; Practicing medicine is about the balance of science and art \u2013 has inspired many generations of Clinicians. Beyond the medicinal approach, he believes that mindfulness is the key in maintaining a good health.
