The Centre aims to be a knowledge centre of excellence for psychological research, education and service with a non-drug approach.\u00a0 The Centre also aims to focus its research to the local context with community-based translational programmes that can be scaled nationally.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n(A) Aim<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Mind-Science Centre Seed Grant (MSC-Seed) aims to bring exceptional and novel research ideas into fruition to prove their value, efficacy and feasibility. The focus of the research should be translational in nature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n(B) Eligibility Critera<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Principal Investigators (PIs) must be a staff under NUS\/NUH, defined as a minimum of 6 months employment with the institution.<\/li>\n<li>Funding requested should be for new research ideas and not for supplementing existing projects\/ collaborations.<\/li>\n<li>For proposals involving patients, the PI or co-I should be SMC registered (if applicable); or should be able to demonstrate ability to access patients through SMC registered collaborators.<\/li>\n<li>Only one PI is allowed per application.<\/li>\n<li>Each PI is allowed to submit up to two applications.<\/li>\n<li>MSC-Seed only funds research conducted in Singapore, but can involve overseas collaborators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n(C) Funding Quantum and Duration<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fl-module fl-module-rich-text fl-node-5a5f1bbb10c13\" data-node=\"5a5f1bbb10c13\">\n<div class=\"fl-module-content fl-node-content\">\n<div class=\"fl-rich-text\">\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"135\"><strong><u>Award Categories<\/u><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"123\"><strong><u>Capped Amount<\/u><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"150\"><strong><u>Maximum Duration<\/u><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"135\">A<\/td>\n<td width=\"123\">S$ 100,000<\/td>\n<td rowspan=\"3\" width=\"150\">24 months<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"135\">B<\/td>\n<td width=\"123\">S$ 50,000<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"135\">C<\/td>\n<td width=\"123\">S$ 20,000<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fl-module fl-module-rich-text fl-node-5a5f1c21b3425\" data-node=\"5a5f1c21b3425\">\n<div class=\"fl-module-content fl-node-content\">\n<div class=\"fl-rich-text\">\n<ul>\n<li>The number of awards to be given out will be flexible and not pre-determined.<\/li>\n<li>A maximum of S$300,000 will be awarded in total for the MSC-Seed Grant Call 2017.<\/li>\n<li>The final approved budget will be administered and managed by the main applicant (PI) and his\/her respective Department.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n(D) Research Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The MSC-Seed is open to application on all research themes with translational value. However, there will be strategic consideration for applications which focus on the following priority areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cognitive Enhancement (e.g. subjective cognitive complaints; biomarkers linked to cognitive decline; sleep)<\/li>\n<li>Emotional Resilience (e.g. therapies including art therapy, sensory reminiscence therapy, exercise)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n(E) Review Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All MSC-Seed applications will be evaluated by the Mind-Science Centre Academic Board.
