An EyeDEA to help glaucoma patients

EyeDEA, a three-in-one solution to help glaucoma patients to keep track of their eye medications and dosages that was invented by a team of three doctors, a research engineer and two medical students, was awarded a top prize for the Grants4Apps Singapore Open Innovation Challenge, a programme organised by NUS Enterprise and Bayer Pharmaceuticals.
Armed with an electrical engineering background, Mr Muhammad Azri from Department of Ophthalmology, was the sole engineer who helped to develop the device based on his fellow team members’ inputs, who are clinically trained. The six person team comprises of Azri, Year 5 medical students Ms Teri Danielle Yeoh, Ms Tey Minli, and three ophthalmologists from NUH Eye Surgery Centre Dr Victor Koh, Dr Charmaine Chai and Dr Lai Yien.
EyeDEA also won the Change Maker Prize at this year’s Medical Grand Challenge.
