About the MSc in Precision Health and Medicine

Precision health and medicine is transforming the future of healthcare. By integrating biomedical sciences, Artificial Intelligence, big data analytics, engineering, and even the humanities, it is reshaping how we prevent, predict, diagnose, and treat disease.

Our MSc programme equips outstanding students from Medicine, STEM, and quantitative disciplines with the skills to harness data-driven healthcare innovations.

Programme highlights:

• Comprehensive Foundation (Semester 1): Human Genomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics, Applied Statistics, High-Performance Computing, AI & Machine Learning, Ethics & Regulation, and Managerial Economics in Precision Medicine.
• Specialized knowledge (Semester 2): Courses include Clinical Perspectives in Precision Medicine, Precision Diagnostics, Precision Oncology & Therapeutics, Precision Drug Discovery & Development, Biomarkers, and Precision Population Health.
• Hallmark capstone experience: A 9–12 month research or industry attachment after completing all coursework that allows students to contribute meaningfully and directly to cutting-edge advancements in precision health and medicine.

Our students come from over 14 countries, trained at world-class universities such as Imperial College London, University of Toronto, King's College London, NUS, NTU, and Fudan University. Approximately 50% are award winners and ~25% already have peer-reviewed publications. Their diverse expertise spans data science, engineering, Medicine, health, biomedical and life sciences and even law — equipping them to bridge technical, clinical, and policy perspectives.

Student Profile

• Academic backgrounds: Bachelor's or higher (including Master's and PhD holders).
• Experience: ~50% with academic awards, ~25% with publications.
• Training: Solid grounding in genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, applied statistics, HPC, AI/ML, ethics, and regulation; plus electives in precision biomarker, diagnostics, oncology, cardiovascular health, therapeutics, population health, causal inference in precision medicine, technological innovation in precision medicine.

Capstone Structure

• Timeline: Full-time for 9–12 months, starting May–Aug annually (students may be available as early as May, after final exams).
  • Alternative: 6-month option available (students will then undertake 2 capstone attachments, totalling 9–12 months).
• Part-time option: From Jan–Apr, students are available for part-time capstone attachment while completing remaining coursework.
• Stipend: Strongly recommended, to reflect the calibre and contributions of students while supporting their living expenses.
