Turning its potential into real-world healthcare outcomes, researchers<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> at the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS Medicine) have <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">successfully utilised an AI platform to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">make precise recommendations for dose adjustments in 10 patients at the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">) <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">in Singapore.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p data-ccp-border-bottom=\"0px none #000000\" data-ccp-padding-bottom=\"0px\" data-ccp-border-between=\"0px none #000000\" data-ccp-padding-between=\"0px\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Led by <strong>Professor Dean Ho<\/strong>, Director of the Institute for Digital Medicine (WisDM), NUS Medicine <strong>(Joint Professor at Department of Pharmacology)<\/strong>, the team tracked the cancer biomarkers, CEA and CA125, of 10 patients in Singapore <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">who were diagnosed with advanced solid tumours<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">to create personalised \u2018digital twins\u2019 for each patient.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p data-ccp-border-bottom=\"0px none #000000\" data-ccp-padding-bottom=\"0px\" data-ccp-border-between=\"0px none #000000\" data-ccp-padding-between=\"0px\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">By analysing the changes in biomarkers in response to different drug doses, precise recommendations were made to adjust each patient\u2019s treatment plan. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Over the period from the first dosing in August 2020 to the last dosing in September 2022, clinicians accepted 97.2 per cent of the recommended doses, with some patients receiving optimal doses that were approximately 20 per cent lower on average. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">The research trial marks a potential shift towards personalised oncology, where drug doses are dynamically adjusted for each patient during treatment, potentially reducing costs, rather than adhering to a standard, one-size-fits-all treatment regimen.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p data-ccp-border-bottom=\"0px none #000000\" data-ccp-padding-bottom=\"0px\" data-ccp-border-between=\"0px none #000000\" data-ccp-padding-between=\"0px\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">This approach to patient care <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is enabled by the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CURATE.AI platform\u2014developed by <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Prof Ho and team\u2014<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">an optimisation platform <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">which <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">harnesses a patient\u2019s clinical data, such as drug type, drug dose and cancer biomarkers, to generate an individualised digital profile to determine a customised optimal dose during chemotherapy treatment.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p data-ccp-border-bottom=\"0px none #000000\" data-ccp-padding-bottom=\"0px\"
