On 17 May 2019, the Investigational Medicine Unit and Department of Hepatology jointly organised the first inaugural Good Clinical Practice (GCP) course at NUHS. This course was based on the ICH GCP E6 (R2) guidelines and aim to equip clinical trial personnel with the basic knowledge for designing, conducting, recording and reporting trials that involve the participation of human subjects. The speakers were all experts in their own domain and represented a collection of private and public healthcare companies and institutions such as Bayer Pharmaceutical, IQVIA, Syneos Health, National University Hospital, SingHealth, and CSI Medical Research.

Accredited by both NHG Domain Specific Review Board (DSRB) and Centralised Institutional Review Board (CIRB), the closing date for registration was brought forward by a week due to unexpectedly high level of interest from the NUHS community. Participants were encouraged to apply the knowledge imparted in the case studies/discussions presented throughout the day. Professor Lim Seng Gee, chairperson of the course and Head of Hepatology Department praised the speakers for their dedicated effort and contributions, calling it a success for NUHS’ first GCP course.
