NUHS IMU Visit Clinical Research Malaysia – 16th August 2018

Representatives from the NUHS Investigational Medicine Unit (IMU) and Hematology-Oncology Research Group (HORG) visited the Ministry of Health and Clinical Research Malaysia (CRM) in Kuala Lumpur recently to explore collaborative opportunities in clinical research. The team was introduced to Malaysia’s Phase I Clinical Trial Centres in Kuala Lumpur’s Ampang Hospital and Kuching’s Sarawak General Hospital. Meetings were conducted with oncologists at the National Cancer Institute (IKN) in Putrajaya.

Professor Goh Boon Cher, Director of IMU and Deputy Director of Research at National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) presented an overview of NUHS’s Phase I clinical trial experiences to the Director General of Malaysia’s Ministry of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and both parties agreed that there is a need to collaborate so as to ensure more clinical trials are being brought into Singapore and Malaysia, with the aim of increasing patient access to better treatments with cutting-edge technology.
