Co-Director
An engineer by training, Lydia started her career in thermal and human performance research before quickly growing into multi-disciplinary project and systems strategy and management roles. At HRPC, Lydia works closely with the team to execute and deliver research that addresses current issues pertaining to heat while strategically planning to tackle the extreme heat challenges of tomorrow. She thrives on building partnerships, catalysing advancements, and making meaningful contributions to the community.
Principal Investigator
Nick’s research career is marked by a broad interest in environmental and integrative physiology, with a focus on how multiple systems interact in response to heat stress. After earning his doctorate at the University of Ottawa and completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Montreal Heart Institute, Nick spent four years as an Assistant Professor at Lakehead University. There, he evaluated and developed innovative technological approaches to protect individuals during extreme heat. With his expertise in wearable technology and biomarker detection, Nick hopes to continue developing patient-specific assessments of heat-related risks to be able to provide proactive solutions based on individualized data.
Senior Research Fellow
At HRPC, I am a Senior Research Fellow and Project Lead. I earned my PhD in Biomechanics from University College Dublin in Ireland and my undergrad degrees from Loyola University Chicago. I am passionate about leveraging insights from wearable technologies and developing novel solutions to optimise performance and push the boundaries of human potential. Off the clock, you can find me training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, attending concerts, 学习中文 or on an ADHD-fuelled side quest learning a new skill. Warning: asking about my research or my cat Mango, the undisputed king of my camera roll, may result in enthusiastic oversharing.
Programme Manager
At HRPC, I manage projects and various stakeholders to ensure objectives are attainable, resources are sufficient and quality work is delivered by the centre. My research background is thermal and exercise physiology, and I’m passionate about human optimisation and augmentation. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing basketball with my friends.
Research Assistant
As a research assistant, I clean, analyse and visualise data for our projects, with the aim being to create models that will help both internal and external stakeholders. I studied Data Science and Philosophy, with a particular interest in Metaphysics, at the University of Sydney. Outside work, I enjoy playing tabletop RPGs (like Dungeons & Dragons) with my friends.
Research Fellow
As a Research Fellow, I am involved in designing and conducting studies under our Discover thrust. I did my undergraduate and Masters in the US, and did my PhD at the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health where I specialised in the epidemiology of non-communicable diseases. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, cycling, and playing badminton and tennis. I also have my hands full co-parenting a grumpy brown tabby rescued from the streets of Metro Manila.
Research Fellow
As a research fellow, I focus on enhancing performance, safety, and heat resilience in a warming world. I earned my PhD in thermal and exercise physiology from the NUS Graduate School’s Integrative Sciences and Engineering Programme, inspired by my experience and passions as a former national athlete. Outside of work, I enjoy hitting the gym, catching a musical, or just relaxing with friends.
Research Fellow
My research interest lies in the development of mitigation strategies to combat heat stress under HRPC’s Detect thrust. I completed my PhD in the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine where I worked on developing heat acclimatisation training programmes to improve thermoregulation in tropical natives. I have also worked on numerous projects to develop and validate wearable devices for personalised heat strain monitoring. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports. I’m always eager for my weekly football sessions but I’m also always up for experiencing and learning how to play a new sport.
Research Associate
At HRPC, I am involved in the collection and analysis of physiological data with the hope to contribute in enhancing resilience and performance of individuals exercising in the heat. My background is in sports science and I am particularly passionate about environmental and thermal physiology. Growing up I lived in 7 different countries and I am currently on a hunt for the best egg tart!
Research Fellow
As a research fellow, I work on data processing and the development of predictive models at HRPC. I earned my PhD in Control Science and Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, which laid the foundation for my deep interest in artificial intelligence, especially its application in enhancing modelling and simulation of complex systems. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and traveling, though my plans often get delayed due to procrastination.
Research Assistant
As a research assistant at HRPC, I provide comedic relief (sometimes unwarranted oops) and emotional support while accompanying my participants during trials. I also do data collection & analysis for various projects. Previously, I studied nursing at NUS and learnt how to provide holistic tender loving care. Outside of HRPC, I play basketball and enjoy coaching (some say professional yapping)!
Research Associate
At HRPC, I focus on enhancing human resilience and performance in hot climates. My background is in sport science and injury prevention, which makes working in HRPC an extremely interesting and fun journey! When I’m not at my desk, I enjoy strolling supermarket aisles and playing with my fur-son, Teddy!
Data Engineer
At HRPC, I support research teams by designing, building and maintaining data pipelines to enable timely access to organised data. I graduated from LSE with a degree in economics, and previously worked at Singapore Tourism Board as a Data Scientist. In my free time, I enjoy birdwatching and photography.
Research Associate
At HRPC, I assist in the operations of the Southeast Asia Heat Health Hub (SEA HHH), a key regional network within the Global Heat Health Information Network (GHHIN). I enjoy collaborating with diverse teams and have experience in executive support and event management. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring social media to remain informed about the latest fashion trends and actively seek out reviews, recommendations, and tips, with a particular interest in travel and food.
Research Associate
As a research associate, I handle data processing and predictive modelling at HRPC. My passion lies in harnessing data science to uncover insights and deliver impactful solutions.
