Speaker: Associate Professor Yew Wen Shan, Department of Biochemistry, NUS Medicine & Deputy Director, NUS Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation

In this age of digital information, big data and artificial intelligence, healthcare is confronted by ever-increasing complexities that threaten to unravel the fabric of humanity. Synthetic biology is the purposeful engineering of biology, a modern day ethos of Intelligent Design. In this talk, the speaker will highlight how biology can be engineered fully at scale, at the level of an intelligent cell, directing precise customisation to achieve improvements in health outcomes. The need for highly interdisciplinary engagement that draws upon the expertise and experience of clinicians, scientists and engineers in NUS to impact healthcare will also be discussed.

Registration & breakfast at 7.10am, talk begins at 7.40am.
